Central America wasn’t originally on our bucket list, but that changed when Malte, influenced by the Corona situation, started his semester abroad in Costa Rica in April 2021. Towards the end of his stay in Costa Rica, Malte spent two weeks traveling through Panama. In April 2024, Vicky traveled alone to Panama and Costa Rica. Then, in July 2024, we traveled through Central America again, this time exploring Guatemala and Belize.

THE CARIBBEAN
Hardly any region in the world stands for crystal blue water and relaxation as much as the Caribbean. Because of this, Vicky has been to the Dominican Republic several times with her family and I have also traveled there with friends during my semester abroad in Costa Rica. In 2024 we traveled together to Belize!
BELIZE
Belize, located south of Mexico and east of Guatemala, has exactly the beach vibes one associates with the Caribbean. It was simply beautiful there; the locals were relaxed, friendly, and always open for a chat. We like to remember how we needed boiled water for our instant noodles at 10 PM, and a local willingly helped us. We combined Belize with Guatemala and spent 5 days in Caye Caulker, including a day trip to Secret Beach on San Pedro. We give you recommendations, such as how to get there, where to stay, the best food places, and more.
