Spain Travel Guide: Tips, Highlights, Best Places to Visit
WELCOME TO SPAIN
We associate Spain with sunshine, sangria, Iberico ham, and beautiful cities. In our Spain Travel Guide, we’ll provide essential information about the country, introduce our blog articles, highlight the best places to visit, suggest the ideal seasons to go for each region, and share honest advice for anyone planning a trip to Spain.

SPAIN - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Most visitors from the EU, US, Canada, Australia, and many other countries don’t need a visa for stays up to 90 days. Schengen rules apply. No special vaccinations are required, but it’s always good to be up to date with routine vaccines.
The official language is Spanish, but regional languages like Catalan, Basque, and Galician are also spoken. The currency is the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, and ATMs are easy to find.
Â
Spring (April–June) and fall (September–October) are ideal for most regions—pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds. Summer is perfect for beaches but can be very hot and busy, especially in southern Spain.
We created an overview:Â
Jamaica uses Type A/B plugs (like the US) with 110V. Bring an adapter if you’re coming from Europe.
Spain uses type C and F plugs (230V, 50Hz). Tap water is safe to drink across the country.
Spain is generally safe for travelers. Petty theft like pickpocketing can occur in crowded tourist areas, so stay vigilant. Use common travel precautions and enjoy your trip.
SPAIN TRAVEL GUIDE
So far, we’ve traveled together to Marbella and Malaga in southern Spain. The last trip to Spain was to Barcelona, where Malte went with a friend. In the past, he traveled a lot with his parents across Spain, visiting places like Ibiza, Mallorca, Costa Brava, Costa Blanca, Madrid, and more. TRAVEL GUIDE SPAIN – TAPAS, BEACHES AND CULTURE
Spain is a diverse country in southwestern Europe with a great culture and fascinating history. It has around 47 million people and covers about 505,000 square kilometers, making it much larger than many European countries but still easy to explore region by region.
When we think of Spain, probably like you, we imagine sunshine, sangria, Iberico ham, tapas, flamenco, beautiful beaches, exciting cities, and friendly people enjoying life everywhere. After busy travels in other countries, Spain was exactly the combination of culture, relaxation, and culinary highlights we were looking for.
Though we’ve only explored parts of the country so far, it wasn’t possible to see everything. So we focused on some of the highlights like Barcelona, Marbella, and Malaga, and every place left us wanting more.
BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN SPAIN
The great thing about Spain is that the country works for both short and longer trips. Especially on a short trip, you don’t want to spend too much time traveling between regions. That’s why you should focus on highlights like Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, or Malaga.
For longer trips, we definitely recommend renting a car for more flexibility and the chance to visit small villages where you won’t find many tourists. But even if you don’t want to drive, Spain has a great transportation network—including trains, buses, and flights—which makes moving between regions and cities convenient.

Of course, we haven’t explored all regions of Spain yet, but we still want to share the places and areas that are on our bucket list and worth visiting in the future.
Set in the north of Spain, La Rioja is famous for its vineyards and wine culture. Discover scenic landscapes, taste local wines, and enjoy the gastronomy of the area.
In the northwest of Spain, Galicia charms visitors with its rugged coastline, green landscapes, and some of the best seafood in the country.
Stretching across the north of Spain, this historic pilgrimage route takes you through regions like Galicia, Castilla y León, and Navarra. It’s a journey filled with culture, nature, and tradition.
A paradise for beach lovers in the northeast of Spain, with coves, seaside villages, and stunning Mediterranean views along the coast.
WHEN TO VISIT SPAIN: WEATHER AND TRAVEL SEASONS
Spain is a country you can visit all year round, but the best time depends on which region you want to explore. The north of Spain is cooler and green, perfect for hiking or surfing, and best from May to September. On the east coast, you’ll find sunny Mediterranean weather and beautiful beaches, ideal from April to October. The south of Spain has hot, dry summers and mild winters, making spring and autumn (March–June and September–November) the most comfortable months. In the west of Spain, summers get very hot and winters cold, so the best time to go is April to June and September to October.
OUR HONEST ADVICE - IS SPAIN WORTH VISITING?
Spain is always worth a visit, whether for a weekend trip or a longer stay. Whether you prefer hotels or traveling independently through the country, there’s always something to discover. You’ll love the food, and such a big, diverse country still has plenty of corners with few—or even no—tourists.
