Hard Rock Locations in Japan
Last Update: March 23, 2026
Hard Rock’s expansion into Japan began in 1983 with the opening of Hard Rock Cafe Tokyo Roppongi, establishing one of the earliest and most enduring locations in Asia. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s additional cafes opened across Osaka, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kobe and Fukuoka, creating a broad national footprint that later experienced multiple closures and relocations. While several regional venues concluded operations over time, key metropolitan locations in Tokyo, Osaka and Yokohama have remained central anchors, recently complemented by new retail focused rock shops in Kyoto and Osaka. Today Japan stands as one of the most historically layered and still strategically important Hard Rock markets in Asia.
