North America is an amazing continent. Nature in Canada, metropolises in the USA and food and culture in Mexico. So far we have visited the USA and Mexico (Yucatan) and have been able to gather some impressions. Most recently, we took a road trip from Chicago via Detroit to Niagara Falls and back to Chicago via Pittsburgh. Enjoy reading about our travels and the travel tips.

We would like to start by talking about our trips to the USA. From the beaches of Miami and the southernmost point in the USA in Key West to the Brooklyn Bridge in New York and a steamboat ride on the Mississippi River. Not to mention our last road trip, which began in Chicago. The USA is so huge that sometimes you feel like you’re in different countries. Thats why we called it a continent of strong contrasts and cultures. Enjoy browsing through our first impressions of our trips!
NEW YORK
2023
Before we traveled through Peru together in 2023, we met in New York. We spent a week there, and in the Big Apple, you will never get bored. We don’t say this often, but you need at least five full days to thoroughly explore the city, as there is so much to experience: culturally, culinarily, and especially the vibe of the city. New York is called the “City That Never Sleeps” for a reason.
NEW ORLEANS

A city that is still dealing with the effects of Hurricane Katrina from 2005, New Orleans is filled with jazz music, especially on the lively Bourbon Street, and showcases a strong French influence. You can also find plenty of delicious seafood to enjoy. It’s an interesting and exciting city, but it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming because of the number of homeless people and drug addicts on the streets.
FLORIDA

Yes, regular people probably fly home from New Orleans, but not us. We decided to travel through Florida together for a few days. So we flew from New Orleans to Miami and picked up our rental car. After two days at the outlet center in Fort Lauderdale, we headed to Naples and then to Key West. We spent the last few days in Miami before Vicky flew back to Lima and I returned to Germany. Florida is a place you have to experience to truly understand its vibe.
CHICAGO ROADTRIP
2024
The best road trip we’ve ever taken! We covered 2,600 kilometers across six states, with one highlight after another. From Chicago to Detroit, then to the beautiful Niagara Falls, followed by a stop in lovely Pittsburgh, and finally back to Chicago via Cincinnati. This road trip had everything you could want: long, lonely roads made exciting by country music on the radio, stunning nature, cool cities, and plenty of delicious food, like a deep-dish pizza in Chicago.
